Ysabel Montemayor grew up in Southern California, where she was raised alongside three siblings. Her passion for food came naturally, as she has always loved trying new foods- especially at the huge "Filipino" pot-lucks that her family and family-friends threw for every special occasion. During college, she realized that it was possible for her to combine her growing interest in health with her long-time passion for food, urging her to pursue a degree in Nutrition. While a student, Ysabel balanced volunteering at a hospital and in the community, and working food service positions. She graduated from California State University Long Beach with a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics in the spring of 2016. After college, Ysabel was matched into University of Maryland's dietetic internship which allowed her to continue pursuing her goal of becoming a registered dietitian.
